How can Water Quality be protected?
We’ve all been battling elevated mouse numbers over the past months but have you considered how this affects your rainwater tank? Rainwater collected from your roof is generally safe to drink but collecting a good, clean supply depends on “low maintenance … not no maintenance”.
Drinking water can become contaminated with microorganisms from a range of sources such as leaf debris, animals or animal faeces.
When installed, a tank should be covered and all access points (except the inlet and overflow) should be sealed. ClearWater Tanks recommends our Dust & Vermin Proofing for all household rainwater tanks for this reason.
Consider cleaning your leaf filter basket more regularly; especially if rain is forecast. For those who cleaned their leaf filter basket in March or April … it’s now time to check and clean it again.
Please read our Care & Maintenance guide to learn how to care for and maintain your ClearWater Tank.
Dust & Vermin Proofing is a foam which prevents dust, pests and rodents accessing your rainwater tank and helping you maintain water quality
